What's the difference?

Both certification agencies have been around for over 50 years, have successfully trained hundreds of thousands of divers, and are recognized world-wide. So you'll never have a problem diving anywhere. The choice is up to you, and you can even move back and forth.

Actually, there's very little difference as far as the skills and performance requirements, just some minor differences in technique. In the end, it's the instructor that makes the difference in the quality and enjoyment of your dive training. Our professional staff will make sure you're a comfortable and confident diver before you leave us no matter which agency you choose.

Feel free to call us if you have questions about which agency to choose.

This non-certification course lets you experience the wonder of the underwater world with minimum time commitment under close supervision of your instructor. In this one-day course, you’ll spend a little time in the classroom, a little time in the pool, and an open water dive at Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary. Class starts at 9:00 AM and includes all necessary equipment, academics, pool time, and open water dive.

Most responsible dive operators won't take you out if it's been more than 24 months since your last dive. If you need to shake off the cobwebs and get back in your dive groove, or just become a better diver, this course gives you a brief academic update, refreshes all the basic dive skills in the pool, and then an open water dive with your instructor. Class starts at 9:00 AM and includes tanks and weights, academics, pool time, and an open water dive.

We know your time is valuable, so our course takes advantage of the latest state-of-the-art digital media to allow you to do most of the academics at your own pace and on your own time before class starts. On day one, we spend the morning in the classroom discussing what you’ve read and watched at home, followed by an afternoon practicing in the pool (not a dirty canal). On the second day, we’ll do two open water dives and some more pool practice. On the third day, we’ll do two more open water dives, and you’re an Open Water certified diver! Since the best way to become a diver is to go diving, you can also upgrade with an additional two open water dives for even more practice. You can also choose between group and private classes. Course includes academic material, classroom instruction, pool time, 4 open water dives, certification card, and all required scuba equipment except mask, fins, and snorkel, dive tables, and logbook.

How far do you want to go?

If you’re an Open Water Diver and ready to get more experience, try new things, or just become a better diver, this is your next step. Most responsible dive operations require this rating before they will take you deeper than 60 feet (20m). Before you invest a lot of time and money into something you may not like, this menu-based course allows you to try dives from 5 different specialty courses. See the list under “Specialty Courses”. To really become a better diver, we highly recommend Deep, Navigation, and Buoyancy! Course usually takes 2-3 days, and includes tanks and weights, academic materials, classroom instruction, necessary pool time, 5 open water dives, and certification card. Additionally requires Surface Marker Buoy, timing device, and cutting device.
